I am a self taught artist specializing in all things colorful and delicious! I love to paint portraits, still life, landscapes, food, anything that I find visually pleasing or otherwise tickles my senses. I am willing to do commissioned pieces as desired, so never hesitate to drop me a line.
I am currently living in Portland, Oregon with my awesome husband and first wee one on the way. Portland is magnificent and provides a wonderful backdrop to my already creative existence. The colors and landscapes are truly inspiring!
We live in a busy world in which it is entirely too easy to miss simple pleasures as we scurry to and fro trying to accomplish too much in too little time. My goal with my photography is to bring to your world, those interesting images from my world that normally one might have missed.
I do not claim to be the worlds greatest photographer and indeed at this point, I am not always sure how I accomplished some of the images I have displayed. However, I do have an eye for the unusual and the interesting. I believe that 99% of the world could be accomplished photographers but being able to push a shutter simply is not enough. I feel like composition and presentation are my strong points. I like to take photos of light, water, reflections and manipulate those images into fine art, challenging the viewer to see what I saw....and more.
I present these few images from my collection for your enjoyment. I hope they bring pleasure to your world as they have to mine.
My love for photography began as a young boy when I was taught the basics by my father. We even developed black and white prints in a bathroom turned into a part-time darkroom. Yearly summer vacations created my desire to travel. During a tour of duty in Vietnam, I purchased a professional model Nikon camera, and dreamed of becoming a photographer someday. Then marriage, family and a career put that dream on hold but I always enjoyed taking photographs on summer vacations and watching my family grow. Several years ago, after surviving another kind of war with cancer, I began to really see the many visual treasures in our world. Equipped with a new awareness of life and improved photographic vision, I am now able to find beautiful scenes almost everywhere.
Thousands of photographs and years later, my images are now comprised of vivid colors, bold contrasts and thought provoking compositions. I was encouraged to start selling my art, and a dream from so long ago finally became a reality. In 2006, I photographed a Tall Stacks event for the Cincinnati AAA Office. At local art and craft shows, admirers purchased many beautiful scenes from my travels to far away places, and those nearby. I now wish to share my favorite Scenes From Far And Near with you.
