Owner - Scenes From Far And Near, LLC
My love for photography began as a young boy when I was taught the basics by my father.
We even developed black and white prints in a bathroom turned into a part-time darkroom.
Yearly summer vacations created my desire to travel. During a tour of duty in Vietnam, I
purchased a professional model Nikon camera, and dreamed of becoming a photographer
someday. Then marriage, family and a career put that dream on hold but I always enjoyed
taking photographs on summer vacations and watching my family grow. Several years ago,
after surviving another kind of war with cancer, I began to really see the many visual
treasures in our world. Equipped with a new awareness of life and improved photographic
vision, I am now able to find beautiful scenes almost everywhere.

Thousands of photographs and years later, my images are now comprised of vivid colors,
bold contrasts and thought provoking compositions. I was encouraged to start selling my art,
and a dream from so long ago finally became a reality. In 2006, I photographed a Tall
Stacks event for the Cincinnati AAA Office. At local art and craft shows, admirers purchased
many beautiful scenes from my travels to far away places, and those nearby. I now wish to
share my favorite Scenes From Far And Near with you.

Photography has been a passion for years and borders on obsession. I take my camera
wherever I go, because there might be that one perfect shot just waiting for me to stumble
upon. I mourn the ones that got away - like the breathtaking sight (on a recent trip to
France) of two stags facing off at the crown of a golden, newly mown wheat field, pawing the
ground and lowering their heads. I shrieked at my husband, who was driving, 'stop, quick; I
have to take this photo.' But when we were able to return to the magical spot, the stags had
vanished into a wooded area bordering the field. What a magnificent photo that could have
been. But there will be others and that's what motivates and challenges me and keeps me
going.
